Welcome to the
Coeur d' Alene Area Swim Team (CAST) and USA Swimming!

The Coeur d' Alene Area Swim Team boasts a 24-year history of competitive swimming excellence

Cell # 1-208-699-4911
CAST is a year round competitive swim team that participates in local and regional swim meets hosted by USA Swimming. Swimmers compete against other swimmers in their age bracket in two year increments (8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, etc…). All meets are officiated by affiliated trained officials and all coaches are certified. USA Swimming is the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States and CAST is proud member in good standing of this organization.
CAST training occurs at all ability levels from beginning Pre-competitive swimmers thru collegiate swimmers and we believe we offer one of the finest training programs available in the Pacific Northwest. Our emphasis is on developing in our swimmers the very best swimming techniques possible and, as the technique develops, adding to it a strong conditioning base.
CAST's philosophy is to focus on proper stroke technique at all times for every stroke. Through proper stoke training swimmers have a superior foundation compared to other swimmers which allows them to compete in multiple events and at the highest levels of the sport.
CAST has been training swimmers in this region for over twenty years and has had dozens of our swimmers go on to successful collegiate careers. Our swimmers have competed at all levels of competition up to and including the Olympic Trials.
We are a community based, non-profit, sports organization registered with USA Swimming. CAST is run and administered by a paid coaching staff and volunteer Executive Board.

It Doesn't Pay to Dream Small |
"We don't have a clue as to what people's limits are. All the tests, stopwatches, and finish lines in the world can't measure human potential. When someone is pursuing their dream, they'll go far beyond what seems to be their limitations. The potential that exists within us is limitless and largely untapped...When you think of limits, you create them."

Good Job Bryce!!

On Sunday Coeur d'Alene Area Swim Team (CAST) swimmer, Bryce Kananowicz swam in the 5k Open Water National Swim Meet in Long Beach California. At 14 years old Bryce became one of the youngest swimmers ever to swim in such an event and swam the 5 Kilometer race in a personal best time of 1:05.57 placing 62nd. Bryce, who trains in Lake Coeur d' Alene during the summer months and in the Kroc Center pool the rest of the year, gained valuable experience swimming against Olympians and the fastest open water swimmers from all over the USA and Canada. During the exciting start of the race Bryce found out first hand how rough a sport open water swimming is finding himself at one time getting accidentally dunked by 10K national Champion Fran Crippen and getting kicked time and time again due to the bunching of the swimmers at the start.Despite the contact Bryce had a wonderful time and gained valuable experience for next year.
