USA SWIMMING

USA Swimming is the governing body for amateur competitive swimming in the United States.  In formulating guidelines for conduct and rules of competition, USA Swimming implements policies and procedures, which regulate age group swimmers.  Safety standards for coaches and swimmers, insurance coverage and support for championship level competition are some of the benefits our club members automatically receive through the USA Swimming organization.  Each swimmer is required to register with USA Swimming on a yearly basis.

Some suggestions from USA Swimming that are useful hints on helping your swimmer to become more successful are:

1. Be supportive- "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".

2. Leave your swimmer alone - don't add additional pressure.

3. Avoid criticism of your coach in front of your swimmer (build trust).

4. Don't try to coach your swimmer- your child needs you as a parent.

5. Remember that swimming should be fun- it keeps kids off the streets.

6. Whose goals are they anyway? Don't let your ego get caught up in your swimmers success.

7. Be enthusiastic and supportive- a healthy environment encourages learning  fun and a positive self-image
